Golden Question

How much does a bar of gold weigh?

Apparently, It’s not a question good enough for Cecil and the Gang as they suggested that I should contact this message board.

How much does a rock weigh?

Smart-assedness aside, the brick-sized “standard mint bars” at Fort Knox weigh about 27 and 1/2 pounds each.

Thank You.

You’re welcome.

Gold also comes in the more convenient 1 ounce size. This page lists a number of commonly traded weights, from the aforementioned 27.5 pound (12.5 kilogram) bricks on down to little-bitty quarter-ounce…um…“slips” I guess you could call them. Or does “slips” only apply to latinum?

Geez…they have 1 gram gold bars? They’re only 15 millimeters long…it’s a little baby bar!

…but, when individually wrapped, are suitable as halloween treats.
