Golf Rules

The group I was playing in had a “Fried Egg” on the green of a par three…it was half buried…what is the ruling on this?

Here, let’s see if we can get a passing mod to move that to, um, The Game Room, I guess. Or maybe GQ?

QtM, who gave up golf after deciding he needed to keep his drives down to about 20 yards to improve his accuracy.

A plugged ball is essentially a “ball mark.” Like when someone hits into the green and it rolls backwards, leaving a ball mark in their line to the hole. You mark your ball a distance from where it was plugged (usually using a tee or your putter head), lift your ball, fix the ball mark, clean the ball and replace. Then putt it out.

On the green, everything’s real simple - mark where the ball is as best you can, repair the green as best you can (remember, somebody else may have to putt over that very same spot fifteen minutes from now), replace the ball, and proceed.

(The general rule of repairing your ball mark on the green is to repair it to the point that you wouldn’t mind putting through the repair mark. Actually having to putt through the repair mark is just the ultimate test of that application.)
