Good Coffee: where to find, good brands

Lion’s Gate will roast the beans and ship them to you express! They may not arrive hot, but they’ll be the best Kona beans you can get.

Lots of people who love “kona coffee” have actually been drinking blends with less than 30% Kona. Lion’s Gate sells only certified 100% estate Kona. The difference in taste will blow you away.

Okay, lost it for a minute there… thus endeth the commercial!

My current favorite miniroaster coffee is Green Mountain Tanzanian Peaberry, i have a pretty high caffiene tolerance, most mass-market coffees do nothing to wake me up, but i have to be careful with Peaberry…

if i have a cup after 4 PM i’m not getting to sleep until 2 or 3 AM, it’s that strong, heck, i bought a bag on Monday (around 3 PM) opened it, took a whiff of the aroma, just the vapor, and was unable to get to sleep until 1:30 AM Tuesday…

no, it’s not freshly-roasted-while-you-wait microroaster coffee, but it’s one of the better small brands, and it is one of their high end, gourmet “Exotic Origins” coffees…

I think I’ll email them tomorrow EJS.

Hey! I grew up with a Coffee Connection…they used to have one in Lexington, MA, where I went to high school! I remember when they sold it to Starfrocks. I used to go to the one in Harvard Square, too.

We didn’t really meet anyone else. I think there was an older lady inside, but we basically stayed outside on the porch, and chatted.

We stayed on this farm nearby where the driveway was literally paved with mac nuts. Literally. I was having problems roasting them, but she told me how they do it.

Of all things with coffee, grinding your own beans is a must. Just last night, Alton Brown did a thing about the best way to brew coffee. He said that not grinding your own beans would be like having the cashier open a bottle of champagne.
