My husband and father-in-law intend on installing a click-together floating hardwood floor in the master bedroom. We have an idea of what we want, but have no idea where to purchase the materials (besides the obvious.) So what’s a good source for discount/bargain but still good quality hardwood flooring? Websites, brands, chains, or even particular stores (we’re in southeastern Virginia.) Or if the answer is “just go to Home Depot already” then that’s fine too.
Try your local newspapers, yellow pages, weekly flyers, etc…
Do you have a Habitat for Humanity Restore near you, or something similar? Depending the size of your room you may be able to find enough remnants or overstock to cover your room.
No matter where you buy it, make sure you add 15-20% to your estimated area to allow for cuttage and flawed pieces.
You can try Lumber Liquidators (lumberliquidators.com). In spite of their name, all they really sell is flooring, including the stuff you’re talking about. I’ve bought flooring from them before, and have no real complaints. I couldn’t swear their prices are cheaper than anybody else’s, though.
One word of advice: make sure you buy enough flooring the first time out. If you miscalculate and run short, you may find it really difficult to match the color of the stuff you already bought. Even if you go back to the same store, and buy the same product you bought before, there may be a noticeable color mismatch. Don’t ask me how I know this!
Why yes, I reported that bit o’ spam right there.
