Good Email List Service

We send out a monthly newsletter from our store using PHP List. Now that we have 10,000 people on our email list it is getting unmanageable. For one thing, we can only send about 400 emails an hour so it takes a day and a half.

Any reasonably priced services that will do the mailing, handle the bounces, and manage requests to be removed?

I want to do a bump here. I’m part of a list that seems to have some issues with administration. (It’s run from a friend’s linux box, but he doesn’t seem too interested in the hassle any more).

Any suggestions would be welcome. We’ve tried yahoo groups, but that’s a pain in the ass.

Thanks for bumping this, I’m surprised no one has chimed in. There must be lots of people here who administer mailing lists.

I run quite a few lists managed by the venerable GNU Mailman. A few of them are hosted by Pair Networks using their pairList service, but they’re just rolling it out and might not yet be able to handle very-high-volume lists.

If I were you, I’d look around for hosting services that offer GNU Mailman, or find a competent mail administrator to run an installation for you on a dedicated or shared server.

While the OP is looking for a factual answer, shared experiences and recommendations are best done in IMHO. Plus, it gets you two Fora for the price of one.

I recommend List Rocket based only on the fact that I once ate next to, and chatted with the guy who started it. He seemed like a nice guy. (I know that’s a horrible recommendation.)

I almost used MyEmma for a client project, but they ended up postponing their email marketing plans.

I haven’t used either one but maybe it’ll give you some ideas.

I use Constant Contact for my list of about 6k. It does bounces, unsubscribe, subscribe, tells you how many opened the email, how many clicked on links, and sends both html and plain text emails (depending on what the inbox can receive). You can also schedule emails to go out at certain times, or send immediately.
