Good In Bed

I just read Good In Bed by Jennifer Weiner and absolutely loved it. It looked like a cute summer beach read, but I was pleasantly surprised at how engagingly written it was. I don’t generally read contemporary fluffy stuff, but I now want to be Ms. Weiner’s new best friend, she’s wry and funny and fabulous!

Apparently the movie In Her Shoes starring Cameron Diaz, Toni Collette and Shirley MacLaine was based on an earlier book, I remember seeing the commercials and registering ‘chickflick’ but it came and went so fast I’m presuming it flopped? Did anyone see it or read the book?

According to Amazon (and my memory) In Her Shoes came out a year after Good in Bed. I read Good in Bed first, and because I liked it so much (like you did) checked out In Her Shoes. It was still entertaining, but I didn’t like it as much. Could be because I don’t have a sibling and didn’t relate as much.

I’ve read all three of her books. Good in Bed was really good. I thought I heard somewhere that it was going to become a show on HBO.

I really didn’t like In Her Shoes as much but it was still much better then a lot of other “chicklit” books I’ve read.

I recentley also read her third book Little Earthquakes. I liked that one the best, maybe it’s because I’m a mom too and I can relate to a few of the characters.

I gave away In Her Shoes, but I still have Little Earthquakes. I’ll send it on along to you, if you can wait for me to get to a post office. Just email me.

That’s so incredibly nice of you! I’ll most assuredly be emailing, and send one in exchange. Got a preference or prefer to be surprised?

I, too, had dismissed Good In Bed as just fluff for the longest time, then my sister loaned it to me and I really loved it.

I read In Her Shoes and liked it OK. Probably gave it more of a shake than I would have a book by a different author, actually. I thought the attempts at being deep were too little, too late in some respects. I’d watch a movie of it, though Why not?

As a heterosexual male with normal urges, may I humbly suggest that instead of “Good in Bed” as the title of this thread, you might have gone with “‘Good in Bed’, by Jennifer Weiner”?

I am so disappointed…

Well, it’s better than if she had said Weiner: Good in Bed

Geez Sampiro that sounds like one of the “Pork:the other white meat” ads.

I dunno. I have never really thought about what foodstuffs are good, bad or indifferent when consumed in bed…
