Can anyone recommmend an easy-to-use international ISP? I’ve got some clients who travel a lot to a variety of international destinations, and have been trying to work with a service provider who shall remain unnamed, (but whose initials are AT&T) and they’re finding them difficult to reconfigure in various destinations, and unhelpful when it comes to tech support.
I’m looking for wide coverage and ease of use. Any suggestions?
I have used UUNet (dial-up)on four continents without too much difficulty. They are overpriced, and there is virtually no customer service, but they do have local numbers just about everywhere.
UUNet are popular with large international companies. I use them, and can confirm that there are POP numbers all over the world, but I haven’t always had a particularly reliable connection.
One nice service is IPass. You install a small program on your computer, and then where ever you go you choose your location, and then select a number to dial. It uses local ISPs, but you always get charged to your personal ISP. We had a lot of success with it in my previous company (we had offices in the US, Europe and Israel).
At&T has an international dial package called AGNS that has a great POP footprint. My opinion is that their IP backbone is a bit more dependable than UUNET’s, at least in the US.
