Good Jet Lighters: i.e. NOT Calibri!

Can anyone recommend a really good jet lighter that dosen’t suck? I’ve purchased more Calibri lighters than I can count and each time they break within a short time. They make great looking lighters…that last about 10 days. I like this looks of this one:

and this one:

I just don’t want to be stuck with yet another crap lighter.

Sorry, its actually spelled Colibri (now you know what to avoid!)

I haven’t good luck with them either… One thing I have read though, is to use higher quality Red White and Blue (I think?) butane, which supposedly has less impurities to clog them up.

I think that’s what I have at home. Most times its not even the butane but the little mechanical ignition parts that go bad.

I have a Colibri Cigar II that is a few months old and hasn’t given me any problems. Are you saying I’ve just gotten lucky?

Yep. I’ve owned probably 7 or 8 Colibri lighters and all of them have died untimely deaths. Unfortunately they are the biggest name in cool looking jet lighters out there.

Given your smoking preferences possibly this might do?

I’ve tried grill lighters before but they’re too big to handle comfortably. I prefer the dual or triple flame jet lighters to get the job done. Now if I could just find one that worked for more than a week…

I have several Colibri non-jet lighters that have been real troopers. In my experience, no jet lighter lasts long, regardless of brand. They’re useful for windy conditions, not to mention downright fascinating, but they’re just not reliable yet as far as I know.

That’s been my experience as well. I’d pay good money for a jet lighter where the parts were made from machined aluminum instead of the same crap die-cast “metal” they used to make matchbox cars.
