Good lord, if this aint the biggest double talk bullshit.. (Susane Rice)

Awkward video

I know it’s common courtesy to give a summary when providing links. But seriously, I don’t even know HOW to describe what I just watched.
All I can say is, if you want to see CNN’s Soledad O’brien hand a Republicans ass to him, (with regards to Susan Rice); you should watch this video.
Seriously Repubs, your ship is going down like the Titanic. Do you guys have any idea how stupid your party looks right now?

John McCain Was Too Busy Complaining About Benghazi to Attend a Senate Hearing on Benghazi

They aren’t even trying to pretend that this is anything other than partisan feces flinging, are they?

It’s pretty clear. If McCain (and the other Republicans who “missed” the senate hearing) had actually gone ahead and attended the briefing, they would have gained information.

Then they would not be able to complain about not getting information.

And they would not be able to spin false stories that are contradicted by the information (which thankfully they did not have to hear!).

So I can really understand why they did not attend the Senate hearing.

The Republicans are quite obviously starting to gear up to impeach Obama. You’d hope the Jindals of the party would take the lead in preparing the GOp for the future, but they’re being elbowed out of the way.

John McCain doesn’t give a shit about the four Americans who died in Benghazi, and he doesn’t care what happened there. Nor do his fellow conspirators. All that matters to them is that the deaths are a convenient thing to try to launch an impeachment from.

“HEY JOHN YOU LOST!! GET OVER IT”

and BTW, thanks for foisting Palin on us, you no-integrity twat.

This is it. Right here. Republicans have no intention whatsoever to allow Barack Obama, or the Democrats, to govern. They did it with Clinton, now they’re going to do it with Obama. They are despicable, sad, pathetic pigs. I’d laugh at their continued efforts to self-destruct, but unfortunately their self-destruction is not just destroying their own party.

Plus I really think John McCain can’t stand to be the guy who got beat by a black guy with a Muslim name and no foreign policy experience, and now he is desperately looking for some way to redeem himself in the history books. Make it so Americans are longing for John McCain after all this corruption and lying and impeaching, wailing and gnashing their teeth at what could’ve-should’ve been.

ETA: I also think the Republicans know the GWB presidency is viewed as a complete shit stain in the history books, and so they’re on a constant PR campaign to make the Democratic successor look worse, as a way to make GWB look better.

I think you are working this too hard. I very much doubt that they have a plan at this point, and much more do I doubt that impeachment is at its core. What they know right now is that they have been robbed, they know they have been robbed because America agrees with them, which means America voted for them, which means they’ve been robbed.

So, yeah, they’re mad as hell, and eager to take revenge, but a plan?..they have not.

They’re not going to impeach over this. They’re trying to kill Rice’s nomination for Secretary of State, and I don’t think it’s going to work. What she said about the attack on the talk show was wrong, but it wasn’t part of a coverup.

Bad enough if he was set on nominating her. But what if he was just mulling her over. Presidents do that all the time, let a name be floated out there to get some idea what people were thinking. Now, if he decides someone else might do a better job, how does he not nominate her without giving the Goon Squad a “victory”?

True. But I think if they were just floating it it would have been more tentative and you would have heard more about other choices. The only other name I’ve heard mentioned is Kerry, who they may just be flattering. Early on the reports said they might stay away from picking Rice because of the Benghazi thing, and over the last few days those caveats have gone away and they’re hitting back against McCain and co. I think they’re pretty well set on her as the nominee and I don’t think they’ll be able to defeat or filibuster her.

McCain’s already used the phrase “Watergate-style hearings” in relation to this stupid Benghazi bullshit. That choice of words, referencing the greatest political scandal in American history, one that brought down a president, is no mere coincidence. They’re trying to plant seeds in the public’s subconscious.

Many Americans who only casually pay attention to the news (and I daresay that most Americans), if they start hearing the words “Watergate-style hearings” from talking heads and politicians, may start to think “Holy shit, there must be some serious corruption and cover-up going on in the Obama White House.” Or that’s the hope of some Republicans anyway. It’s all about public perception. Damage the president enough to justify investigations and maybe perhaps ultimately a full-on impeachment.

I could see them flinging shit with all their might and hoping something will stick eventually. And this is Benghazi thing is probably the stickiest wad of feces they grabbed a hold of so far. These are the same clowns who impeached over a lied-about blow job. And why would they go to all this trouble just to sink Susan Rice? Up until this week, I doubt most Americans would even know her name.

I predict that by the end of his term, Obama will be able to get away with just about anything, as the public will be so inured to the endless attempts by the GOP to turn every thing into a “scandal” that they’ll ignore any actual scandal.

So if it makes people feel better, in a few years Obama can just have the Secret Service cut off Lindsey Grahams thumbs. It’ll be a blatent abuse of executive power, but at that point, the world will have happily tuned Graham out.

Re: the video in the OP, at least it’s good to see a legitimate journaliist calling bullshit on the guy. Maybe now that the people have spoken, the mainstream media might be more willing to do it more often, and the Repubs won’t be able to use them to spread their disinformation.

(I assume O’Brien is a legitimate journalist. I don’t get CNN.)

I think there will be other journalists who will ditch the policy of false equivalency and go back to telling the truth. If this goes far enough it will be the nail in the coffin for the Republican Party. They are nothing but a mountain of bad ideas and lies. Too bad the Democratic Party isn’t that much better.

It does seem to be leaning that way. Somebody didn’t listen when mommy read them the story about The Boy Who Cried Wolf.

Maybe, conceivably, could be, it is possible, in any way as a snowball in hell, likely at last, not impossibly, perchance, perhaps pathetically, probably pissy, within the realm of possibility, **this **is the break the McCain campaign has been looking for.

Oh god, what a trainwreck of an interview by Joe Heck. I agree with what Soledad and fellow panelist Charles Blow seemed to conclude: that was Heck was saying seemed more of a defense of Susan Rice than a condemnation.

What I also got was Heck telegraphing the GOP’s play, because starting at about 3:55 on the video, Heck mentions that what he’s REALLY pissed at is the Obama administration for trying to use Rice as a figurehead to take the blame, and his (and the GOP’s) anger is directed at Obama, and they are using Rice to hurt this administration.

How else can anyone possibly explain away the fact that Heck completely dismissed Condoleeza Rice’s involvement in the WMD, as the face of that selling point, and acknowledge that he’s excusing her behavior because she wasn’t just a face for Bush’s WMD claims but was deeply involved.

So in Heck’s mind:
Condoleeza Rice = Reponsible for false intelligence = Off the hook
Susan Rice = Not responsible for false intelligence = Needs to be punished

This. I think McCain is totally pissed that Obama got re-elected.

I just want to mention that I could watch Soledad O’Brien read the phone book and be immensely entertained.
That’s all.

The Republicans were heavily pushing Kerry because they want him out of the Senate. They think their golden boy Scott Brown could win another special election in Massachusetts.
