Good lord, if this aint the biggest double talk bullshit.. (Susane Rice)

I think you probably got my point, even if you are 60 and not retired. At least half of the people eligible to vote in this country (people aged 18 to about 55 or 60) were not born when Watergate happened or are not old enough to have been paying much attention. For them, it’s something they read about after the fact or learned in history class. It was obviously a huge moment in American history, but referencing it is not going to trigger a visceral response in anyone who wasn’t actually following the drama at the time.

I wish just one journalist had the balls to question John McCain like this:

McCain: The president is awful and has blood on his hands, blah, blah, blah…
Journalist: Senator McCain, why should the American people believe your judgement about anything after you decided that Sarah Palin was qualified to be vice president?

Like I said, this won’t be successful to remove, but if the House votes to impeach, he’s impeached. He’ll still be an impeached president. Somehow I think some of these wingnutter guys like to keep score like that. They’d like to be able to say: “The past three administrations have seen two Democrats get impeached. George W Bush, a Republican, was never impeached. Vote Republican!”

These guys are doing anything they can to bring articles of impeachment on Obama. If Benghazi doesn’t pan out, they’ll keep searching. It’s how they play. If they can’t beat them, taint them.

I don’t follow the news much, so please help me see if I understand this correctly.

Hillary Clinton is resigning, in part because she’ll need to spend full time now on Capitol Hill answering stupid questions about Benghazi-gate from the Congressmen who [del]Hate[/del] Love America so Very Very Much. Benghazi-gate is, of course, the most heinous tragedy to afflict the Free World since the stain on Monica Lewinsky’s dress.

These Congressmen, of course, want the confirmation hearing for the new Secretary to be all about Benghazi-gate as well; indeed it was somehow Obama’s duty to nominate the most Benghazi-tainted person he could find.

Instead Obama has double-crossed the GOP by nominating a person untainted by the Benghazi scandal.

Does that sum it up?

I recall what happened the last time a Republican HoR beat the drum for a couple of years to impeach the Democratic President. I wouldn’t mind seeing it happen on a somewhat larger scale in 2014.

You impeachment conspiracy theorists rank right up there with birthers and truthers for credibility.

It’s not a conspiracy, it’s right out in the open. First the outrage, then the demands for inquiries, then dissatisfaction with the results of the inquiries and more inquiries and more, followed by a motion to impeach. No conspiracy needed. Political strategies are what they are.

Please. You’re embarrassing yourself. And embarrassing the SDMB by posting this drivel as a moderator. Yes, I know you aren’t moderating in this thread, but you are displaying such utter stupidity that you bring shame to yourself and the board. You should either wise up and slink away, or resign.

Good lord you’re a drama queen.

If we had a mod that was a birther, you’d be falling over yourself to agree. This is the same thing, just with a left wing slant.

Not even close.

I’ve taken your advice under consideration, to be honest. You make some interesting points.

After quite a lot of thought, I’ve made the decision to laugh at you and your bizarre histrionics. Which is what I did before, to be honest, but I’ve confirmed my initial reaction was correct.

No, you are just saying it is the same thing, because you identify with Republicans.

And while I don’t believe that impeachment will happen, there is certainly a chorus for it, and people as heavy in the party as McCain and Graham are doing their bestest to lay the groundwork.

Behghazi is literally Republicans shrieking over nothing and hoping a scandal will form. They are riding the corpses of our people down the slope of mount Fuck Obama and the second they get to the bottom they’ll get right back on the lift if the media lets them.

National Republicans are saying this is as bad as Watergate, which certainly could have gotten Nixon impeached. Remember, just because you’re sane, doesn’t mean the party you identify is.

I say we impeach him.

Obsequious fucktard.

Thesaurus-owning vapid bitch.

I had a membership at a gym once that had TV monitors in front of the ellipticals & such, with her reading the news. I didn’t have headphones, and didn’t much care.

I hardly think there is anything obsequious about a simple recognition of the wondrous splendor of the Luminous Ones, who sit at the right hand of Cecil.

There may be some remote chance that there is a group of Republicans who actually want to behave so stupidly as to impeach Obama.

There is no chance that Boehner is among them or that he would ever let it happen.

I don’t think the chance of such a group is remote. The chance of them actually moving for impeachment is remote.
