Might make a difference depending on whether he is the only one who has balls hanging out, and no one else is required to. Come to think on it, no, not really.
This is quite the thing of beauty.
I thought that meant he wasn’t good enough to be hired by an existing practice. That’s how it worked in my family: Younger brother is a terrific lawyer and worked his way up to partner in a big law firm in the big city. Older brother is a lousy lawyer who had his own practice until it went bust and he became a real estate agent. You can guess which one is a Republican.
No, because I have said it could take until 2015. (In another thread.) Six months from now is April 2013.
In 2015, if no impeachment attempt is yet in the works, of course I will say I was wrong, since I obviously will have been wrong.
No, it isn’t. Let’s see, what parallels can we draw?
Birtherism: There is no conclusive evidence that Obama was born outside of the USA, and strong evidence that Obama was born in the USA
Impeachmentism: There is strong evidence that a non-inconsequential number of those on the right believe that Obama should be Impeached, primarily over Benghazi but also over other issues. You would know this if you were actually paying attention, as Elvis’s link points out. This does not indicate that anything will necessarily happen, only that a good number of people want it to happen. Like, I frequent a fairly right-wing political forum (when they haven’t banned me for referring to members as clinical retards), and everyone there is harping on this “Impeach Obama because of Benghazigate” thing. The references to Watergate are also somewhat telling. The idea that there’s absolutely no evidence, that there’s some “conspiracy” to blame the right for wanting the president impeached… I’m sorry, but it’s stupid. Really, really stupid.
Abrasively verbose cuntgargler. Please stop abusing thesaurus.com.
No, because that’s not the argument here. I’m surprised RickJay agreed with you, seeing as it doesn’t take an actual impeachment to show that many on the right want the president impeached.
Rickjay claims that it is inevitable that Obama will be impeached. That is just ridiculous. There is no evidence of any serious attempt at impeachment in progress, nor does any sane person think any serious attempt is likely in the foreseeable future.
“Sane”? About that word, “sane”… I am sane, you are eccentric, he is batshit.
How many House Republicans in the Batshit Caucus? How many are “amateurs”? See, the professionals are already past it, they are hunkering down and counting their chits, their leverage towards the all important goal of being re-elected. Joining the Batshit Caucus has no particular rewards for them, they will still be nervous about a primary opponent from the BC. Can they be pure enough, hate Obama intensely enough to satisfy them, and still bring home the bacon? Hard to get a mutual back scratch going when one of you has Wolverine hands.
You think the election was serious trouble for the Republicans? You ain’t seen nothin’ yet.
Oakie, I accept that your are mostly sane. I heartily endorse your view about the inanity and insanity of any attempted impeachment. But, pardner, this ain’t your Daddy’s Oldsmobile, its not the Republican Party of our youth. Its not about the Austrian School of Economics, its about the radical madrassa of Indonesia. Its not about capital gains taxes as a stimulus for investment, its about the Apology Tour.
We need a conservative party. Car needs engine, car needs brakes. We don’t really have one, at the moment, we have an ongoing struggle between the anal-retentives and knuckle-walkers. If and when that struggle is resolved, then we will be able to sensibly talk about something called “the Republican Party”. But not before.
Did you know that Benghazi is Arabic for “Vince Foster”?
This may just be the break the McCain campaign was looking for!
In Iraq, over 3,000 Americans died, and you voted for the fucking war, Senator.
In iraq, over one hundred thousand Iraqi civilians died, and you voted for the fucking war, Senator.
And not only had they not done anything to us, they couldn’t have if they had wanted to.
So you don’t think the Republicans are trying to build a case for impeachment? That would just be crazy, wouldn’t it. Cuz it’s never happened before, right?
In its earliest stages, building a case for impeachment is indistinguishable from building a case for scorn and derision. Some non-zero number of Republicans may be making a case for impeachment with that goal in mind, most are simply trying to make him look bad. Which is a good way to proceed and hedge your bets at the same time.
Any of them that currently believe they have a realistic shot at a 2/3 majority vote in the Senate to convict are possessed of a faith that surpasseth all understanding.
No it hasn’t. Clinton got himself rightfully impeached for lying under oath. At this time, there is no plausible ground to impeach Obama. I know a lot of idiot leftwingers around here wet dream about this going forward and doing serious harm to the GOP, but it ain’t gonna happen.
Clinton was impeached?
Impeachment is the act of bringing charges. He was not convicted.
But not convicted. We tend to blur the distinction, but he was “impeached” by the House and tried by the Senate, and the Senate did not convict.
You have a strange recollection of history. I recall a conservative witch hunt around some potential adultery, and a lot of talk (in my solidly Republican childhood home) about how the president should be a moral leader and whatnot. When the dust settled, the Republicans sifted through the rubble to find whatever impeachable offense they could, and the perjury thing was the only scrap they could come up with. You’re telling me that impeachment wasn’t the plan all along? That they really were concerned about adultery and moral figureheads and whatnot?
and a land scandal and some missing files in his wife’s law firm files and every other fucking thing they could manufacture which, it turned out, was an undisclosed blow job.
