Cereal. In my climbing days, I used to put single servings of granola in small zip lock bags along with the appropriate measure of powdered milk. Just add water.
There’s dried fruit and nuts. (M&M’s are a good addition to trail mix as the hard candy shell keeps the chocolate from making a mess as you won’t have a cooler.) Granola bars, jerky or other dried meat. Pilot bread (AKA hard tack) packs really well. Peanut butter. Carnation instant breakfast shakes.
Thanks guys, given me a lot of ideas some of which I’m sure to put to use. The tuna + mayo + relish idea is inspired, as well as avocado as a concept. Because avocado is amazing, can’t believe I didn’t think of it. Hard-boiled eggs is another simple winner.
We would occasionally get a pizza, freeze it, and take it the first day. It thaws out during the day, and in the evening is ready to eat. It ain’t hot, but it tastes great out there.
Just remember that if you’re bringing cannabis along on the trip that you’ll need to increase the amount of food you bring along proportionately. In fact, anecdotal evidence suggests that even with less than a backpack full of grass that you might not be able to physically lift the corrosponding increase in snack food you’ll require to remain satiated.
