Such a sweet tribute. I could feel the love. I think my AC is blowing dust around, because I’ve got something in my eyes.
Shit, you got me there at the end.
Aww, your tribute made me cry. I’m so sorry for your loss.
This is such a beautiful way to put it, and is absolutely true in my own experience with hamsters. They may not interact with humans in the same way that a dog or cat does, but they are, in a word, graceful in the ways that they accept their enormous human caretakers as a part of their lives. I saw it all the time in my dwarf hamsters, and how they had their own subtle ways of communicating when they thought it was needed.
(As for taking hamsters to the vet at the end, absolutely. It’s a shame that good small animal/exotics vets are hard to find, because the little, short-lived pets deserve the same care as the longer-lived, familiar companion animals. Just because many families treat hamsters and such as practically disposable, doesn’t mean they are. If you’ve only got two years with your pet, you want them to be the healthiest two years possible.)
Sailboat, thanks for your beautiful tribute to Abby. From your description she knew she was loved.
