Goodbye, Spenser (*sigh*): Robert Urich died

I have two additions. The first was shortly after Vegas ended, I found myself in Las Vegas doing a story on something or other (I think it had something to do with rodeo - but that has nothing to do with the story I’m telling). I talked to cab drivers, pit bosses, dealers, waiters and inevitably the subject of the phoniness of Hollywood types came up. Everyone I talked to always had wonderful things to say about Urich and his honest sincerity in dealing with the public. No one else was as nicely spoken of. He was truly appreciated and liked; this in a town that sees mega stars come and go daily.

Second, Urich did a made-for-TV movie about running back Rocky Blier (early 80s?). It was one of the best athlete biopics I have ever seen. I felt that Urich really captured Blier well. And as I remember so did Blier. He made the tour of the talk shows with Urich to tell the hosts how highly he respected the man who played him as a person and athlete. When was the last time you saw that?
