Goodbye, Straight Dope

Not everyone. . .bona fide anarcho-socialist-openborders pacifist hippy here who denounces violence whenever and wherever it occurs.

Ah yes, it’s always the fault of the right…

Wrong Nomad. And you forgot pizza. We like pizza, shit, and Dessert Nomad.

Cool heart, though!

This board’s poor Rightists (and Libertarians, 'cos that’s tooootaly different  ) have no idea what an actual leftist message board is like.

SDMB has never had anything to do with the Chicago Tribune, which is actually quite conservative politically.

Here, have a cookie.

Gosh, that’s the best part about the SDMB, it’s so inclusive and welcoming…:smack:…

There was a series of posts in the recent ‘how to make SDMB better’ thread by the head Mod where someone pointed out how cliquish (OK, I’m paraphrasing, sorry) this board is…it’s no wonder people don’t want to join, post or subscribe, MrDibble here is a perfect example, >22K posts, and rather than add to the conversation or impart some wisdom, just more SDMB snarkiness…sigh…

I don’t even know what a Libertarian is, that’s how little I pay attention to politics. I’m sure I’ve looked it up more than once, but it never stuck.

Republicans who like weed.

Take a break, it could help. Learn to laugh at the crazies - that will help more.

That’s part of what he’s upset about.

I often wonder why certain people seem to think that this board exists solely as a venue for them to propagandize for their favorite ideology. It’s a bit of a mystery.

You can leave the High Desert, but the High Desert will never leave you …

What? … no more free sex? …

As a political movement, it’s weaponized ignorance. It’s often been said that this board should somehow attract more conservatives; nobody ever says that about libertarians.

I think you should ask a mod to fix your account. Apparently, you’re unable to start threads about topics you’re interested in, and that should be fixed.

See, on this board, threads don’t start themselves. If you’re interested in a subject, you should press the New Thread button in the appropriate forum. That way, others will know that you have an interest in a subject or debate and can comment as they wish.

It would be cool if they could start themselves, but, alas, they can’t. So, if you’d like a thread on a limo company owner who had a car destroyed or about some Antifa thing you could start a thread, once you get your account fixed, of course.

Well for one I appreciated the OP’s participation.

This could apply to any of us, come to think of it.

Or at least if the political side is too aggravating, we can always focus on trivia, music, sports, etc. threads.

And FWIW though I have to agree with **MrDibble **that most Americans have no idea what a real Far Left even looks like, for libertarians it’s more of a challenge since from their POV both liberals and conservatives in the USA are happily statist.

And are pro-choice and believe in a smaller military.

Yes, they are.

Well, I didn’t bring up antifa good or bad, so I’m not sure why you attributing that to me one way or the other. Have you considered asking somebody, e.g. me, what they think about antifa’s violence instead of just assuming? See THAT is intelligent discourse, when you ask somebody their opinion and discuss it, instead of assuming they hold the opinion you disdain. So in your own words … sigh.

The general consensus seems to be that antifa’s violence is bad. or wrong. Maybe badong?

(with apologies to Steve Oedekerk)

I was imparting wisdom - if anyone thinks this board is too leftist for a right winger to exist on, most anarchist and socialist boards will make them eat their own keyboard first.

People swear and are nasty in The Pit.
Do you also complain when the water is wet?

I looked them up (again) and it seems that they used to be a Lefty organisation, then somehow the title got co-opted by the Right (a hundred years ago). Also, I think sometimes I conflate Liberal and Libertarian. So, no wonder I’m none-the-wiser. It’s like an offshoot sect.
