Google and Holocaust Museum work to highlight genocide in Darfur.

The US Holocaust Memorial Museum and the Google Internet company have launched a project aimed at raising awareness about the violence in Sudan’s Darfur region.

The museum has put a genocide database onto its website along with Google Earth satellite images of more than 1,600 villages in Darfur that have been damaged or destroyed.

I hope it does some good.

I hope it does some good, too.

But it’s interesting to see a week or two after the flap about Google Earth showing New Orleans and Louisiana with pre-Katrina images. Not saying that one has a bearing on the other, just that it’s an interesting juxtapositon.
