Kevin Bacon’s number is zero.
The highest I was able to come up with for an actual actor in an actual movie was Augustus Philips, who played Dr. Frankenstein in Thomas Edison’s Frankenstein. His Bacon number is 4. I was disappointed that the cast of Freaks have Bacon numbers no higher than 3 (thanks to Wallace Ford).

I was an extra on CSI:NY with Gary Sinise, who was in Apollo 13 with Kevin Bacon.

He may have only made a handful of movies, but several of those movies featured huge casts of well-known, prolific actors.

I tried to backtrack from that to get a larger number but Google isn’t recognizing the Bacon Number of people like Tracy Austin or Nick Bollettieri or Igor Andreev even though they’re in IMDB
The trouble is that if you allow TV, then you can connect anyone who has appeared on Jeopardy!, celebrity or otherwise, through Alex Trebek to Marcia Gay Harden in Spy Hard to Kevin Bacon in Mystic River for a Bacon Number of 3. Trivializes the game, really.
My Bacon number is 4, although you have to count a student film that’s not on IMDb (or YouTube) and has been seen by maybe a few hundred people, tops.
I think everyone should be given an honorary Erdős number of 100 for helping their kid with their math homework.
Interestingly, porn star James Deen also has a Bacon number of 3, as do Ginger Lynn and Justine Joli. Porn star Jesse Jane is a 2. Would not be at all surprised to discover there are a few porny 1s out there.
Ana Kasparian of The Young Turks, Alyona Minkovsky of Huffington Post Live (formerly Russia Television) and Lee Newton on SourceFed do not have Bacon numbers. Felicia Day is a 2. So you gotta go to the Web to have celebrities without bacon numbers.
You can thank Bernie Madoff for that. Seems Bacon had built up a nice pile and had gotten very picky about which movies he appeared in, but he invested all his money with Madoff, and of course, lost it. So back to work for Kevin.

I was able to trace it as a 7, but I might be able to figure it closer. If you count “opening for” as well as “playing with” it’s a 2.
Oh, Justine Joli left a comment on my blog, so I have a Bacon number of four, unless you’re really strict about (i.e., pay any attention to) the rules of the game. Plus, she didn’t sign the comment so it MAY not have been her. But OTHER THAN THAT, I have a Bacon number of four, for sure, through Justine Joli!
Checking today at work, no it is not showing up. I just looked at

and none showed the bacon number result at the top of the search page.
I was thinking the porn stars might have had a link through Traci Lords, since she went mainstream, but couldn’t find a shared movie with her and Kevin. However, a few porn stars have played themselves in mainstream movies, so they’re all probably linked through one actor/actress in one role.
Not true. There are a few totally isolated regions within the Baconverse. If you look up Manos: The Hands of Fate on IMDb, and plug any of those names into the Oracle. the Bacon Number will be infinite. Under strict rules of bacon, no one in that movie can traverse a path to the central node.
