Wow! That is impressive. You can practically count the bikinis. I wonder when the picture was taken–isn’t it winter there now?
Just to be clear: Google Earth and Google Maps are two different things, using two different data sets, if I’m not mistaken.
Well, possibly they are using the same data; at least at some points.
Yes, but those are simple pictures of maps, not searchable road network databases from which one could find an address and get driving directions. And Google won’t load new data into its map servers without those capabilities. At least, I doubt they would.

One thing is for sure: The satellite imagery data and the road network data definitely come from different sources.
