So I google “mt st helens eruption video” because I wanted to see, well, I guess it’s self-explanatory.
Google lately has a “people also ask” section, where they list common similar questions.
Apparently people also ask “What president died on Mount Saint Helens?”, and the answer is “Harry R. Truman” (bolding mine)
Strange that the linked Wikipedia article for Harry R. Truman fails to mention his presidency! You’d think that would be a kinda big deal in the man’s life and worthy of a paragraph or two…
Harry R. Truman died on Mount St Helens. The President was Harry S. Truman.
Probably a lot of people are confused, a myth has started, and Google is mirroring their confusion.
Google doesn’t know anything. It just repeats what other people ask or answer. If enough people answer common questions incorrectly, Google will brainlessly parrot it.
Oh, is that what the “S” in Harry S Truman stands for? “R”? I’d always wondered that. Neat!
Better to go through life being the other Harry Truman than being one of the other Donald Trumps.
