In the past I’ve downloaded from Google play free stuff without CC info. Depends on the specific download I think.

As far as I know, once its downloaded its free and on your account… forever.
My kid is saying its free for the download all week… but other sources are saying today/tonight only.
OK, its silly and hokey and it may make you laugh at the absurdity of it all (I think its why I wanted to share it).
Old SOBs like me though? Some of those songs have memories which are kinda fun to revisit. What I always said about Dark Shadows: Love the movie, but only The Raspberries version of “Go All The Way” works.

I just want to say that Google Play is vaguely creepy. In the “Recommended for You” section, they have songs that I recently Googled or Youtubed while researching some of the polls in Cafe Society. That’s really quite Orwellian.
My favorite is still when I have someone visiting me, they email me their expedia receipt, and on the day of I see a notification on my phone about the plane being on time and when to leave at the airport.
I never actually TOLD google about it, it just knows! It’s entertaining to me, but still vaguely creepy

It’s also annoying because someone will post a “What do you think of this video?” link and I’ll spend the next month having Google Play recommending Jennifer Lopez singles.
