Google Project Fi: The pros and cons of a Google cellular plan

WIFI data is free so that 24GB wouldn’t have an impact on a Google Fi bill.

My wife and I average less than 1GB of data except for for the month of our longer vacation each year. Our average bill is about $50/month for both our phones. Well worth it for us. And much better cell coverage than our previous Sprint-only service.

Yeah, I have Google Fi, and I know I’m only paying for the ~2gb of cellular data I use. I was just shocked that I’d used so much data of any sort, and wondering what drove that.

They make it easy to see what apps are using what data, at least on the Pixel 2. Settings -> Network & Internet -> Data usage -> Wi-Fi data usage. You can also do the same thing for cell data.

Hmm, it’s the Wall Street Journal app. I think I’ll change those settings… Thanks.

Conservative leaning newspaper sucking up all the data it can is a prime example of capitalism at work!

Eh, it’s not as if my Netflix won’t play because the WSJ is sucking up too much data. I guess i don’t care.

I also wonder if Google will drop this like they have dropped a lot of other ideas. Guess it depends on how much money it brings in for them.
