Yesterday I started to watch “Inside Deep Throat” on Netflix. I googled Linda Lovelace to see when she died and her name DID NOT pop up on the drop down menu with every other notable Linda.
Then I tried Harry Reams “her co star” and although there are many stories about both AND pictures (some X-rated) neither show up on the DROP DOWN menu.
Why does google do this?
And yes, I had it set to “no retrictions” on the preferences.
I always assumed the drop-down list was statistically generated based upon previous searches. I don’t know what the algorithm is, but I bet there just haven’t been too many people searching for those names, and hence no drop-down options.
Not very likely. If you type her name a letter at a time you never get her name. Hard to believe since half of the Lindas that come up I have never heard of.
I believe the drop down list is censored. For example, starting to type “How to enlarge your” gives you “how to enlarge your pennies” as the second result. Either a lot of people don’t know how to hammer 'em til they’re thin or there’s a missing obvious result.
For instance Linda Lee Caldwell (who I have never heard of) comes up and has 27,500 references. Linda Lovelace never comes up until you type her full name but she has 432,000 references.
