I’m sure I remember reading that Google searching would be enabled for the Dope. It’s never appeared in any Google search I’ve done, so:
Does my memory serve me well?
If so, has it been implemented?
If it hasn’t, will it be?
The first post in the *Current Status of SDMB Upgrade * thread gets updated with a list of what stuff’s done, what’s next and what’s deferred. At present it says
Oh, and in case it’s unclear, allowing search engine spidering of content is what would make this place searchable by Google.
Yes, that the source of my confusion. I wasn’t sure if the one being the next priority and the other being deferred were the same.
They’re not the same. In this case, the third-party search engine is quicker, more efficient software installed on the server to take over the searching duties.
Would this be like an appliance such as Google Mini?
No, not an appliance. Just a software program.
