Here is a great link to info on google. You can read threads back from April 98 from the founders of google. Cool reading if you like to read about the worlds best search engine in my view.
Cool stuff like:
Feb 25th 1999:
Google.com was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, both
Ph.D. students in Computer Science at Stanford University. Google
received seed funding from a number of angel investors, including Andy
Bechtolsheim, one of the founders of Sun. Google recently moved from
its first “world headquarters” (a house with a hot tub in Menlo Park),
to the new “Google-Plex,” a prime office on University Ave. in
downtown Palo Alto.
June 8th 1999:
This was an exciting month for us as we secured funding so that we can continue
to improve Google in new and exciting ways. This month we issued our first
press release which announced our financing of $25 million and introduced the
new the members joining our board, Michael Moritz of Sequoia Capital and John
Doerr of Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.
July 2nd 2002:
Everybody loves Paris, and Googlers are certainly no exception. So
it’s no surprise that the opening of our French sales office on June 12
gave us a significant boost in the joie de vivre department. Google is
very much at home in France already (Google.fr launched in 2000) – as
is Sergey Brin, one of Google’s founders, who made the most of the
opportunity to chat with the European press about everything Google,
from its international expansion to its advertising programs.
Anyway I hope you enjoy this little link.
