Google's new Click to Call

Google just keeps outdoing itself. Now, if you search a business on Google maps, you can call it by clicking “call” and then entering in your phone number. Google will then call you and connect you to the other business. They’ll even pay the local/long-distance charges (although cell phone minutes are still used if you use a cell phone). Amazing! I feel like Google is slowly taking over everything, and somehow I’m okay with it.

Jeez. That’s the sort of thing I never knew I needed, but now that I know it exists, I’ll use it all the time.

Kinda makes me wish I had a home phone- I’m just using my cell phone, and I never use all my minutes, so it’s kinda wasted on me. I’ll still use it, though.

Now, if only they’d make GoogleMapsMobile work without a live connection so I could use it on roadtrips where I don’t have signal (by caching the maps), or find a way to use my Treo’s GPS, I’d be giddy.

And a whole new world of crank calling opens up…

I used it on my cell phone over the weekend while on vacation. I looked up a business to call and ask their hours. Came in really handy!
