Gorey movie causing fear and trepidation

Well, fear and trepidation on my part:

Gorey Tale coming to screen for the first time.

I love Edward Gorey, but trying to stretch a book that’s 1000 words at most to fill a feature length means a lot of padding (The Cat in the Hat was longer than The Doubtful Guest, and look at all they had to add to fill it out). They may be able to interpolate other of his books, but it could be a recipe for disaster.

I’d rather see it done by Tim Burton in the same stop-motion animation style as The Nightmare Before Christmas.

With the right director and script, I’ll bet you could do a great dark-comedy movie of Gorey’s The Gashlycrumb Tinies, detailing how 26 adorable little children die, one after another, in alphabetical order. A macabre classic.
