Gospel question

Has anyone out there ever heard of “The Gospel of St.Thomas”?

If so----what’s it all about?

I seriously doubt that it exists.

No, no, it was a joke. You know, Doubting Thomas and all.

::Ducks the flying objects::

I’ve heard of it-- it’s something odd-- I think it’s an apocryphal text (The Acts of St. Thomas) which explains that he went to India and converted a few kings there. Corroborration? Apocrypha (“scripture” which accreted later with uncertain provenance), in any case, and not part of the gospels proper.

Cecil wrote a column on the Gospel of Thomas, here’s a link from the archives: www.straightdope.com/classics/a4_141.html

This has also been discussed in a number of threads on this board, for example:
lost bible books in General Questions and The Gospel According to Thomas- Fact or Fraud?? in Great Debates.

Just read the Cecil article and realize it doesn’t really go into much detail about that book. Here is a better one:

My deepest thank you to one and all.

Your help is appreciated.
