I’ve heard of it-- it’s something odd-- I think it’s an apocryphal text (The Acts of St. Thomas) which explains that he went to India and converted a few kings there. Corroborration? Apocrypha (“scripture” which accreted later with uncertain provenance), in any case, and not part of the gospels proper.
