It’s for United Health Group but a virtual interview. There will not anyone on the other side, but I will be on camera. Anyone ever done this before? They have a video showing the process, will be written questions. It said I don’t have to be on camera while talking, that the video could be blocked, but I am definitely not doing that. Will just look at the center of the screen, not directly at the camera at the top of my screen I think. And I will look away or down as I would normally do in a conversation. I found online 20 questions that they typically ask, they are the usual - why do you want to work here, tell us about a time when you had a difficult problem etc. Will wear a dress shirt and tie
I have done such an interview for the same company. Be sure your background looks professional and that you have the right angle on your computer screen. I had to raise my laptop about six inches to get a good angle on the camera. They give you a chance to practice, but it’s not a great one. It actually works better if you can look at the camera like you are responding to a person by looking at them.
My on-screen went well enough but I blew the in-person interview. This did not break my heart as I prefer working with smaller companies. But good luck to you!
Thanks. It feels very awkward to me now, pretending to do the interview, looking at the very top edge of the computer screen where my camera is. But I think if just keep my general eye level on the top 1/3 of the screen it will be fine. I can’t think too much about where I am looking, that would distract from what I am saying. I’ll record a test video of talking to my camera.
“Who you talking to? You talking to me?”
Since it was for the same company, did you have to take an assesment before getting the virtual interview?
I did and most of the questions were familiar. But there was one series of 40 questions. Something like-
ts8ei/ts8ei
ab9d/ab9d
f%Trq/F$Trq
1(349/1(349
I had to say if they were all the same or if there was a difference. 40 times! It seemed like a general IQ type test. I believe I had 1 minute to answer each one, but I answered much faster because I think the time to respond was calculated into my score. I must have done well.
No, but I was interviewing for an instructional designer position. I rarely handle code. They gave me a test in the in-person interview instead. Long story short, they took offense because I was rude, which is likely. I am very experienced at both the work and the interviewing process. They wanted me to act like a submissive newcomer. I’m not.
Be aware though that UHG is huge and some parts of the company are fantastic to work for. My good friend retired from there and she loved her team. I know of a couple of others who asked to come back there after going elsewhere. It’s just not for me.
Not working. On their site, when I click the button to test my camera, I see the light go on but I get a message that it is in use by another program. I am verified in Task Manager that this is not the case. I have tried restarting and also disabling the camera and then enabling it again but this does not work. I have tried this on two computers and of course the email with the invite is No Reply and there is no phone number.
Found HireVue support email. Why does everything have to be such a hassle?
ended up doing it on the phone. Only 3 questions, “tell us about a time when you had a problem…” I hope I didn’t sound arrogant on the last question, and I said I hoped I didn’t sound that way, about a time when I had to change my way of communicating with a customer. I said I never had to change my method of commuticating, that I was very good at it, and that my answer to the previous question showed that.
These are all very general questions, I have a feeling you are being evaluated by your general manner in responding. I was disapointed that I did not get the question about why I wanted to work for UHF- that I could help to save people’s lives! I would not have stated it that directly, but in my last job as a project manager for a company that only translated health care documents, it struck me in March of this year when we were translating flyers about COVID, what is it, how do you protect yourself etc. Lives may have literrally been saved, in my previous job as project manager for a translation company, it was annual reports and financial statements for big corporations, these are important but not as important as health care, and that in the future I want to work in the health care industry. And I do, assuming it pays the same or better as a non health care job LOL
Well, I have that response if Iget a real interview.
Best of luck to you!
After the initial virtual interview, how long before they got back to you?
Quickly, but this was for a contract job, through an agency and they often have short turnaround times.
