The grammys have a category for “record of the year” and “album of the year”. What’s the difference between a record and an album?
Al album is a collection of songs. A record is a single. Think of it in terms of vinyl - a 45 (7" single) is a record and a LP (12") is an album.

But there’s also a “song of the year” award. How’s it different from a record? And also, what constitutes a ‘single’ these days? Nobody ever bought CD singles.
Song of the Year is a songwriter’s award. Record of the year is a performer’s award.
