Gran Turismo 4 - Is your car in the game?

For all the GT4 players out there, just wondering if your real-life car is in the game and if you’ve tried it, how does it compare?

I have a '95 Camaro Z28 and saw the last generation Camaro at the dealer which basically are mechanically the same but with a different front end clip so it looks different. Today I noticed a '97 Z28 has appeared at one of the used car dealerships which is exactly the same as mine (albeit in a different colour). I’m tempted to buy it to see how realistic it is.

My wife drives a '01 Mitsubishi Mirage which is basically a front-wheel drive economy version of the Lancer, though I haven’t seen it and I don’t think it’s in there. I can’t make a useful comparison with the Lancer because all the important bits are completely different. Plus, I’ve never really tried to drive her car in a “spirited” fashion anyway.

(Note to mods: I’m not sure if this should be in this forum or in Cafe Society. I put it here because it’s a poll, but feel free to move it if this is the wrong place for it.)

Well, i have a base '02 Dodge Neon, the closest GT4 comes to it is the SRT-4, and considering the SRT-4 is a standard Neon with tightened up suspension and a bigger engine (2.4L Turbo as opposed to the stock 2.0L N.A.), i’d say it’s pretty darn accurate, the engine noise sounds similar, and it tends to understeer in tight corners, just like mine does

Don’t have GT4, but is there a '98 Chevy Suburban in it? 4WD?

No Suburban, but there are some pickup trucks. There’s a Dodge Ram and a Ford F-150, and I think a Silverado and maybe one or two others.

I’ve never played it, but I can tell you that odds are, no, especially since I don’t think my car is made anymore, at least not this specific model.

I have a 97 Subaru Legacy GT. Basically, it’s like a “pre” WRX, as I don’t think the WRX was made until 99 or 2000, buit I’;m sure the WRX is in the game as it’s a widely popular rally car. I don’t think the GT model of the Legacy is made anymore, sicne the WRX and Impreza’s are around, but I mgiht be wrong. Either way, I highly doubt my car is in the game.

OK, I’m wrong, they do still make the GT version of the Legacy, but I still doubt it’s in the game, since the WRX is so much better.

They have a Subaru LEGACY Touring Wagon GT-B (2nd) 1996
and a Subaru LEGACY B4 RSK (3rd) 1998

Don’t have a 1985 VW cabrio, but have some similar VW Golfs.

The game has a 2004 Mazda Miata. I drive a 2003, but they’re essentially the same car. (The 2004 has small speakers built in to the windblocker. I’m jealous.)

I haven’t played the game, but I’m reasonably certain that there’s no 1968 VW Beetle in there.

How about a 1949 : Beetle 1100 Standard (Type-11) see here

Actually Don’t look there for the Beetle as its image has gone from the site.

Is there a list or FAQ online with all the game’s vehicles?

I drive a '99 Firebird Formula. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it in a game. If a racing game has a late-model Firebird it’s usually the T/A, which is just silly since they weigh more.

I’m disappointed that the Beetle has crawled away, but I really appreciate your effort, Bippy. Just knowing that there’s an old VW in the game makes me feel good. Thanks!

I have the car you start the game with…

… No car at all.

Yes try www.gamefaqs.com (where do you think I got the details in my earlier posts from  )
The old cars really make the game worthwhile, though it is a shame that some aren’t raceable like the Audi Auto Union V16 Type C Streamline '37 (you can drive it arround a few tracks, but cannot race against others) due I susspect to a much higher polygon count than most other cars in the game.
