Grand Funk Railroad

I figured there was intentional irony in the post somewhere, but I didn’t get the reference.

OK Homer, you’re right. And, of course, Billy Joel is psychedelia, and really freaks out the squares.

Okay, since two people have now mentioned it, I think you’ve been wooshed. Seeing as how this was a joking thread from the beginning, I came in with the obvious (near)quote from the Simpsons (Homerpalooza, and a kick-ass episode.) The bit about the US Festival is from the same episode. (I was born in August 1982 and the first one was September 1982, so it was possible for me to say that as well and be perfectly factual on the “my lifetime” bit). And actually looking at the lineup, those look like they might have been fun to go to. If there’s one thing that other guy from Apple knows, it’s how to calculate the required number of portapotties.

Anyway, whenever I’m listening to a really good song, like “Shinin’ On” or “Mississippi Queen” I start nodding my head like I’m saying “YES!” to every beat. “YES! YES! YES! This rocks!” Sometimes I like to mix it up a bit and go “NO! NO! Don’t stop a-rockin’!”

Like I said, I figured I was getting whooshed, but I didn’t get the reference. I’m not a big TV guy, and I’ve only seen The Simpsons sporadically over the years. I did see the episode in which Homer turns hippy and tries to “freak out” Springfield by cranking “Uptown Girl.” Sorry for disrupting the joke.
