Tuckerfan, you’re right that most people won’t know about the Tucker, but there are still alot of people that do and will recognize it. Of course, even among those that do, probably very few know enough about where they all are to guess that yours is stolen. (How many are still in existance? Wasn’t total production around 53 units?)
Fifty were built, out of those, forty eight survive, maybe. There may, in fact, be forty nine left. There’s one guy out there who has a couple, but he may have cannibalized one of them to build a totally fraudulent convertable that he’s claiming as legit (even though he gets slapped down by everyone in the Tucker Club whenever he tries to claim that it’s legit). One car was definitely destroyed by vandals back in the 1950s, and the rollover car was thought to be lost, but turned up a few years ago. At least one or two of the cars have been wrecked in the years since 1948, and one (if there were two) might have been restored.
Several of the owners don’t like to talk about their cars, presumably because they can’t afford the insurance on them. This greatly confuses matters since it’s hard to keep track of who has what car and what’s wrong with it, or what’s been done to it.
There’s a number of spare parts floating around out there, fenders, hubcaps, headlights, heaters, radios, and the like. There were several bodies, but they sat outside and rusted away.
Your new username, Tuckerthief, would raise some questions.
I prefer the username Tuckerliberator.
