Grant Imahara dies at 49 of an aneurysm

49 is way too young.

Also played Sulu on Star Trek Continues. (Another instance of the original outliving the replacement.)

Oh, man! I really liked Grant! He really added a lot to the “Mythbusters” show. What a shame!

49 is way too young.

It is, but I was a little taken aback. I’m 40 and somehow just had it in my head that he was about a decade younger than me. I suppose he’s pretty youthful looking, but I’m guessing when I watched the show (long after original air dates) combined with the show dynamics messed with my time perception.

A tragic and young loss.

I watched Mythbusters because of Grant. He was awesome!

God damn it!
Big Mythbusters fan here. This sucks.

At this point, I just want to take 2020 out behind the barn and shoot it dead.

I really loved watching Grant on Mythbusters. You could tell he knew his stuff and loved what he was doing, and I had a tiny crush on him.

He created Craig Ferguson’s robot side kick Geoff Peterson, too.

He was my favorite. Didn’t know he was the fav of so many others. I’m so tired of being sad. Dang.

Remembering Grant Imahara - Still Untitled: The Adam Savage Project - 7/14/20

Same here, I’m mid 40s and assumed he was just a kid, at least 10 years younger than me. Same for the other two really. I would have bet infinity dollars that there was no possible way I would be younger than all three of them.

No, he was my favorite. Not only was he the one real engineer of the bunch, and the one they went to when they had to solve a hard technical problem, but he also had the least over-the-top personality. I liked the whole team but he was the most relatable to me.

Adam’s podcast about Grant is an amazing tribute to him. I learned so much about Grant’s career and life before Mythbusters. He was a much beloved person with a large circle of friends.

Has anyone heard about his surviving family? A spouse or children?

So sad. RIP Grant.

Beyond belief. Peace to his family and friends.

Thanks for posting that video - very touching.

Over time I think I got to liking the build team more than Adam and Jaime (not that I didn’t like them a lot too). I just really enjoyed their chemistry, Grant was the smartest and best designer of all of them and clearly had a great personality. Kari was a very good artist and was largely the reason the things they built had character and appeal. Tori was the biggest personality and daredevil but was still a lot of fun to watch too. Other shows tried to duplicate them but nobody else really succeeded which is a testament to how good they all were.

Oh.

Oh…

:big tear:

This one really hit hard.

Yeah. I hate how most TV shows encourage their people to act like brain-damaged children .HGTV shows are the worst for this.

He was married. She was a costume designer, so they had a real connection.
