Gray hair, sure, but like this?

Al, I probably should have provided this link in my first post: Cecil on the Black Irish

Lor, I know how you feel - I started coloring my hair when I hit 30, but I got sick of it and quit at 40. Everyone tells me it looks great silver, but I occasionally have my doubts. Mean Girl at our local supermarket offered me the Senior Citizen’s Discount.

Bucky, you’re right. Between that and the red suns, a guy can’t go anywhere anymore.

I also have graying spots on my scalp (I’m 41, BTW). There’s a fairly prominent patch of it on the top of my head, slightly off center to the right and back a bit from the hairline. I’m also graying in bits around the temples and all around the back. The rest of my hair is a fairly uniform brown. I like my gray hair (it runs in my family, as I can’t remember my dad with anything but silver hair). I think it’s distinguished-looking, and I don’t dread it at all, especially since I’m not losing my hair (and ain’t likely to, at my age).

What really bothers me, for some reason, is my gray whiskers. I don’t have facial hair, but when I’m feeling indolent of a weekend, I don’t shave. And I’ve got a LOT of white whiskers! Not gray, white! Almost transluscent! It weirds me out and I dunno why.

I’m 35 and only get a single grey hair every now and then. They do not bother me. What bothers me is the fantastic rate at which the hair on top of my head is thinning out. In my humble opinion, grey hair is better than no hair.

I started to get a lot of grey hair about the same time that I started going to church again, my friend said that she noticed that young people who where very involved in her church had grey hair. So I stopped praying!!

whatever

Im blond & as most blonds do, they don’t get a lot of grey until much later in life for some reason or other.

…not to hijack this thread, but here is a like to lotsa info on the Black Irish and other related groups http://www.geocities.com/mikenassau/
this seems to be a name applied to an old east coast mixed race group related, if not identical,to the Melungeons,Brass ankles and Lumbee
