Great photo of storm over Sydney

This photo in today’s paper shows the storm that struck Sydney yesterday afternoon. I thought it was a rather impressive picture.

It was an impressive storm all right, but I don’t agree that pic does it justice.

I barely noticed it. I must be in the wrong part of Sydney.

Holy asdfjk !!!

What did you guys do to piss off the weather gods?

That’s pretty funny, coming from a Torontonian.

Oh, fark off. :stuck_out_tongue:

Mackinac Bridge and lightning. (Ok, it is a postcard, but its fairly cool.)

Hey! SARS and power outages are not weather problems!

and the army hasn’t shoveled our snow for how many years now?

Unfortunately I must confess that I am the cause of all the wet weather in Sydney. I have a little patch of lawn outside my townhouse and have been trying to mow it since October. I don’t work on Wednesdays (4 on and 3 off is fairer than 5 on and 2 off) and every time I have decided to mow it has rained. Two weekends ago I was going to mow it on Saturday and changed my mind and left it for Sunday so it rained Sunday morning.

As I write this at 1-25am I intend to mow it today but there will be a torrential downpour between now and 9am. It will be my fault.

So, a little rain, a little wind?

Pffft.

Good grief! Did you all wash your cars on the same day or something?

I got totally soaked in that bloody thing. Ducked out from work for a bite to eat at the takeaway, and it hit full force as I was walking back. Was a cool storm though. Provided CityRail with an excellent excuse for all the trains to stop too.*
*Foreigners who catch trains that run in blizzards etc may not appreciate this. In Sydney, if it rains, the trains stop. If it’s too hot (80F), they stop. If it’s too cold (40F), they stop. If there’s hail or anything, they stop so severely they go backwards. If a bird craps on the rails, the trains stop. It doesn’t snow here, which is a good thing.

But, does CityRail profusely apologize for any inconvenience?

you need to move to Michigan. Not only do we not have rail transport for humans - the people mover in Detroit does not count - we all have SUV’s and drive over everything and then valet park it.

They used to, but then it got to a point where they couldn’t do it with a straight face, so the commuting public asked them to stop. Seriously! When there was an announcement over the public address system at a station regarding a train being late or cancelled, they’d apologise. When it happened every day without fail, they were politely asked to cease insulting our intelligence.
