Great/surprising movie taglines...

:smack: I didn’t read that in the IMDB listing - I only clicked on the poster they had for the movie and tried to find the tagline there…I *knew *I was missing something. :smack::smack:

A great tagline for a forgettable movie:

“Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water.”

w/r/t Alien:

Around 5 or so years ago there was a space movie with the tagline “if you thought that in space, no one could hear you scream – THINK AGAIN!”

Ummm, I get it, your movie breaks the laws of physics! Gotcha ya! Or, you mean that it is so frigthening that the victims will scream SO LOUD that they will hear you THROUGH THE VACUUM OF SPACE!

Something about that tagline just made me roll my eyes so heard that I’m surprised no one heard me from behind my keyboard.

Thankfully, it didn’t work as advertising because I can’t even remember the title of the movie, much less go see it in theatre.

The movie Volcano had as its tagline, “The Coast Is Toast.” I thought that was better than the actual title.

I won a T-shirt from the New York Daily News’ “Phantom of the Movies” for spotting the tagline from the one-sheet for She Freak: “Filmed on actual locations where it COULD have happened!”

After the movie came out, I saw an ad for “Nostromo” ball caps. Black, very official looking.

The headline?

IN SPACE,
ANYONE CAN WEAR A HAT.

I laughed.

Just about the only good thing about Jaws 2 was the second tagline shown here.

Black Sheep, a horror film about blood thirsty sheep, had some good taglines:

Get ready for the Violence of the Lambs!

Get the flock out of here!

Die hard 2: Die harder.

Yeah, as a genral favor, please put the tagline into the post, so we don’t have to pore over the IMDB site and click on cockfighting videos in a vain attempt to figure out what you’re getting at.

That’s … just not right.

Which is:
T’was the night before Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring…they were all DEAD!

The tagline from Jeff Goldblum’s version of The Fly was much more memorable than the film itself.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Don’t feel bad, I still can’t find the tagline at IMDB. It’s not where it was with other movie listings. If someone hadn’t already posted it, I was gonna request they do.

On a similar note, I always liked the tagline for the otherwise-execrable 1998 American-made Godzilla movie: “SIZE DOES MATTER.”

For recent films, I thought Inception had a great tagline: “Your mind is the scene of the crime.” It actually accomplishes the rare feat of getting the movie’s central conceit across to potential audiences better than the rest of the poster.

Me neither - it seems to have been deleted. The “tagline” header is greyed out. I was puzzled by the OP, too.

A couple of months after it came out, Men In Black had a full page ad showing a neuralizer and the tag line:

“See it again, for the first time!”

I’m seeing taglines on all the referenced IMDb pages, except for “Cockfighter” from the OP. What tagline are you all seeing? I’m dying of curiosity!

JAS09 was good enough to post it upthread a-ways.

Tagline: He came into town with his cock in hand, and what he did with it was illegal in 49 states.

Ah, got it. Strange, I see it on the IMDb page now too, though I swear it wasn’t there before. In fact, I even clicked on the taglines link before and it informed me the movie had no taglines. Maybe my company’s firewall was censoring it!
