The song was released with lyrics back in the 1960s, long before the movie came out. They may have *used *it in the movie (which I have never seen and don’t want to), but I remember hearing it when I was still in grade school.

I don’t know if Sinatra ever recorded it, but the version I posted is Steve Lawrence’s. Whether it’s the recording from the '60s or if he reprised it for the movie, I don’t know. Sounds the same to me as the one I heard growing up, though.

I know the theme from the TV show; I’ve known it for the last 54 years.

The TV theme has always had lyrics; they were just never used in the show. A single of the song WITH LYRICS was released in the 1960s; I remember hearing it not long after the show debuted.

I have never seen the movie (nor do I want to), but judging from the post on YouTube, the same theme WITH LYRICS is on the movie’s soundtrack. In that post, the singer is Steve Lawrence.

Whether Steve recorded the version I heard when I was nine or ten years old, I can’t say. So the one in the movie might be a remastered recording, or it might not. I don’t know. (Steve Lawrence is still alive, BTW.)

If you’re referring simply to the TV theme WITHOUT lyrics (and there were several such versions of it during the run of the show), that’s another matter.

What I was wondering was how many people even KNOW there are lyrics to it.
