Great Wheel of Fortune Screwups

Well they might have gotten it from the following joke:

One day the Pope is doing a crossword puzzle when he asks one of his Cardinals, 'What’s a four letter word for a woman that ends -unt?"

The Cardinal immediately responds, “Aunt.”

The Pope nods his head and then says, “Do you happen to have an eraser?”

Doesn’t sound plausible. Everyone knows that Dolly Madison was out banging Monroe that night.

And here is a previous thread on that topic (and I still think he should have gotten credit)

The song (as sung by my mother) went:
School days, school days,
Dear old golden rule days,
Reading and writing and 'rithmetic
Taught to the tune of a hick’ry stick
You were my queen in calico
I was your bashful barefoot beau
And I wrote on your slate “I love you so”
When we were a couple of kids

Quickly googling says that it’s 99 years old now - obscure enough in the 80s.

I opened this thread to post about this very pack of idiots. As I recall, the second one said “Ho Ho Ho And A Bottle Of Rum.” Apparently, Santa’s a pirate.

And the name of the company that originally made Zingers.

From some sitcom: (Seinfeld?)

On Wheel, it’s, “A stitch in time saves . . . pork?”

On Jeopardy, it’s, “I’ll take “Things only I know” for $1,000, Alex.”

James Madison’s wife’s name was Dolley, with an E. The error in spelling appears to be the ice cream company’s.

THE CHECK IS IN THE M_LL

Contestant: “The check is in the mill!”

Me: :wally

It’s also been awhile since I watched, but last I checked, there was a $10,000 spot that was treated like a prize. As with other prizes, multiple occurences of the same letter did not award multiple amounts of $10,000 (it always pisses me off when a contestant wastes a letter they know occurs multiple times on a prize space). It’s a one-time shot, so once a contestant claims the $10,000 with a correctly called letter it’s no longer up for grabs, and if it’s lost to a bankrupt, it’s gone for good. The $10,000 spot is a small sliver only marked for a 1/3 wedge (one single peg space on the wheel), bounded by a bankrupt sliver on each side.

As for the $5,000 space, it counts just like any other dollar amount and pays in multiples and remains on the wheel for the duration of the round.

No, what is being said is that “–LL --SHER” is not possible, because it would have been “-ELL --SHER” on the board (since “well wisher” was the correct answer). Perhaps what the board showed was “–LL --SH-R” but it could not have shown “–LL --SHER” given the answer.

This was from a toss-up puzzle, so all the E spaces weren’t filled simultaneously.

AHHH…Now it makes sense.

From tonight’s show:

COMIC -OO-
AND MOVIE HEROS
THE -MEN

Contestant offers up “Comic good and movie heros the X-Men”

The check was in the mall?

BALL BASHER?

I was flipping channels and caught that. I wasn’t even invested in the show, and I literally yelled, “You idiot!”

Dad (in the other room) thought I was talking to him.

err…I don’t get this one, what is it supposed to be? Comic toon?

Oh. ok, I see, yes it is comic toon and movie heroes, as the X-men are heroes that appear in comics, toons, and movies. Right

Well, I would have gone with comic book and movie heros the X-men
