According to the article he put in the auction listing, it’s legitimate. How, I have no idea, but it doesn’t matter. It’s a legit airplane, and for only $9,000,000 you can have it custom painted and reassembled, bomb racks and drop tanks included.
I really can’t think of anything to say right now except for the thought that maintenance might be a bitch, but if you can afford this you’re not worried about that.
Well, with your $7 mil, and that bank I will rob, I can have my Leeds United flavour jetfighter. And you may come for a ride in it with me
(barrel roll)
I believe that Leeds United need all the help they can get, and my solution to their problems is to purchase a Jetfighter emblazoned with their crest and colours. And then it could fly about annoying teams travelling up and down the motorway to Leeds matches, and strafe Old Trafford from time to time.
“Landa and Associates of Washington state is selling the jet for $1,050,000 - some assembly required”
::“Alright, lads, we’re going to need a screwdriver, some duct tape, and that stool from your grandmother’s shed…”::
I’m pretty sure Blue Angels Hornets are demilled before they’re used for airshows. And the bomb racks might still be fitted but I doubt the firing mechanisms still are.
For what it’s worth, I think this jet has come up for sale more than once. I first saw it more than a year ago here. Supposedly it’s not been demilitarized but I don’t have any idea if it’s true or not. The Blue Angels website says that their jets are mostly ready to go…
ACW also used to have an F-16 and an F-111 “for sale.” I can’t seem to find it on their current site though. And why someone would want an F-111, I do not know.
It’s super cool. It’s an actual F/A-18 cockpit inside an enormous dome.
I took off and headed down to Mexico, then out over the ocean playing around for a good half hour or so. Found my way back to Miramar with no problem, then I quickly realized that the old movie cliche of “I said I could fly it, I didn’t say I could land it!” is actually true .
Sorry, paul, but you have to be a US resident to buy the plane. Tell ya what, you can buy it in my name and we’ll keep it in my garage. You can take it out for a spin whenever you come to visit.
The last bid was for $99,999,999.00. I don’t think the bid was a serious one though. You can get a new one for a mere 18 mil.
Cheers kids!
well, if we pool our resources, and buy the Mig as well, we could paint that in Arsenal colours and have it shot down to prove not only american(!) technology is superior in a dogfight, but Leeds are the greatest football team in aerial combat.
I already proposed to Jennyrosity on this and another board, but now i’m rescinding that offer for Ms Boods. Then I get American citizenship by marriage (green card is it?), property and two jetfighters. and a wife.
Man this thread rocks!
BTW, my favourite plane was always the SR 71 Blackbird. As they been decommisioned, what are my chances of purchasing one of those bad boys?
