I’m looking for a story I read a while ago about a Greek politician (an ambassador?) who used Greek words found in English to write a speech. Does this ring a bell for anyone?
Xenophon Zolotas, an economist who would later serve briefly as the Prime Minister of Greece, made two such speeches in the U.S. in the 1950s. Xenophon Zolotas - Wikipedia The speeches do include a few common English words of non-Greek origin, such as prepositions, pronouns, and articles.
Sounds a lot like the father in My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
That’s it! Thank you!!
I would also appreciate any links that provide more background for his speeches.
