Greek/Roman Mythology Poll

Hera:

Led an unsuccessful attempt of revolt against Zeus. Had to promise not to do that again.

Generally, everytime she found out Zeus cheated her, she did something bad(mostly killed/tried to kill) to the woman or child(if Zeus got the other woman pregnant). Think Heracles, Apollo, and Artemisa.

Had a few lovers, but it seems Zeus did not treat them kindly.

The third goddess(Aphrodita and Athena being the other two) who participated in the infamous beauty pageant where Paris was the judge.

Took baths each spring to conserve her youth.

She was a goddess that could get as pissed as any other, jealous, and vengeful.

He does indeed, but these are myths. Everybody gets the shaft.

Take a guess.

Running a real close second, though, is Diana. I like her so much that that is the name I chose for my own daughter. An boy, is she doing a good job of living up to the name.

Demeter and Hestia are also exceptionally cool.

lol, I was waiting for you to show up, Persephone. Don’t we also have an Athena on the boards, too?

Did you see that? Me and Anubis posted one after the other. We of the Egyptian pantheon outnumber Persephone 2 to 1 in their own pantheon, hmmm.

Major God- Ares. Hated, feared, and sinister, gotta love it.

Major Goddess- Hands down, Nyx. Even Zues was in awe of the goddess of eternal night.

Minor God- Pan

Minor Goddess- Chloris, The Fates, The Furies, The Muses, The Graces, The Hesperides, The Pleides, Despoena, Hebe, and Nike.

And she was the goddess of marriage, and childbirth, and as Juno Capitolina was one of the guardians of Rome and as Juno Moneta, guarded the treasury.

Not to nitpick but are you sure about the specifics here? I thought Athena turned Arachne into a spider because she was such a good weaver. I think Arachne committed suicide but Athena took pity on her for driving her to it. This specifics are important to me because I like Athena since she tends to me more humane and just than the others.

Ah…the version I read, when I was quite young (in D’Aulaires), said that Arachne boasted of being a better weaver than Athena, so that she (Athena) came down to earth disguised as an old woman. When Arachne still showed arrogance, Athena challenged her right then to a contest. In Athenna’s weaving, she depicted the gods in favorable ways, but Arachne depicted the gods doing foolish, silly things…so to punish her, Athena turned her into a spider.

I don’t know if that’s the correct myth. It’s just the one I heard…
