I have generally hated Green Day since they came out. I was really into Nirvana and it was just seriously Bubble-Gum Pop Punk at that point. (Hey I was a teenager who thought that Nine Inch Nails was more mature.)
But I like this song. Except it’s video, which is rather hilarious. I like how he ‘walks alone’ with the two other dudes from the band beside him.
The video i think is part two of the Video for “Holiday”
Which is amusing, because they deliberately released Boulevard first, and then Holiday as music videos. But it is the song that precedes it on the album as well. So they’re meant to be in that order.
Never heard Holiday. I tend to avoid Green Day when I am not confronted with it by an MSM outlet in this case it’s on Disney XD during Phineas and Ferb. It’s just really funny to hear him talking about how he walks alone with no one beside him and the other two dudes are trudging along too. It’s always funny how these pop punk bands are there to fill the role of discontent even though they are on top of the world. I bet people who are really lonely wish they had a bassist and drummer accompanying them through their loneliness.
Well, to be Fair, it’s Jimmy that walks alone. Not Green day.
(He’s the guy who doesn’t want to be an American Idiot. And the guy who’s complaining in Holiday. In Boulevard, he’s disenchanted, and I believe at that point has run away from home).
The whole story of Jimmy is told on the album, you can wikipedia it for the full story if you like (as recall- American Idiot was a concept album telling the story of the anti-hero’s rise and fall).
If you don’t like the song by itself, try this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akGRWdkAxhI
I think it’s one of the best mashups I’ve heard on the web. Unfortunately, Warner music did too because they threatened legal action to have the audio taken down.
So you can do your own mashup by running it simultanously with this:
Ro0sh Well they could of at least had the lead singer walking alone in the video. It was just a really bad decision on the part of the Director that’s worth making fun of.
