Green Peppers and my urine flow

Why is it that I can drink 60 ounces of water in an eight hour period and only have to go to the bathroom once, while if I drink those same 60 ounces of water and eat a half of a green pepper, I’m whizzing every 30 minutes?

This has happened half a dozen times now and I’m very perplexed.

capsicums have diuretic properties (They stimulate the kidneys)

Nice elegant answer, Mange, mate.

Okay, what’s the explanation of the cold-weather thing? I seem to pee a lot more when it’s cold.

Quite simple. When it’s warm you sweat it out instead.

Why does asparagus make your pee smell funny?

Sorry if that was a bit too brief and obvious, I was hoping to be able to find out what chemical component of capsicums is responsible for the diuretic effect, but I can’t find anything online; I’ll have a look in my herb books tonight.

When you are cold the body pulls blood into the core to reduce heat loss. This makes the body think there is too much blood volume. It reduces it by increasing urine production. At least it works that way for divers. That’s why they call them “wetsuits”.
