It is a dark day in American movie history.
I recently saw a TV program of the top 100 movie heroes and villains. He won #1 hero for Aticus in TO KILL A MOCKINGBRD.
Until next time.
I think the system works on reincarnation.

Predictable, but very sad nonetheless.
We just watched Mockingbird on DVD the other night for the umpteenth time. T’was just as good as the first. I expect TCM or some station will air a collection of his stuff soon. He will be missed.
To me, he was the epitome of what it meant to be a real man; low key and hard as a rock underneath. I imagine that he’d be one of very few people who could convince me to believe just about anything he wanted, by the passion of his own conviction and that voice out of the bottom of a well.
I clearly remember wanting him to be MY dad when I was a kid.
