Grey's Anatomy 2/15 [open spoilers]

Not only did they leave it to the doctors, but to one single intern. Oh, and not only did they pass this off to an intern, but they funneled it to the “free clinic” next door.

No holes in Meredith’s head. Izzy drilled holes in a squished guy’s head.

Did they explain why they didn’t jack up the car that the guy was trapped under? The three or four of his friends who were standing around looking helpless could have scrounged some jacks.

You realize you can watch it for yourself on ABC.com, right?

No. I wonder that too. And with a surge of adrenalin, and the car on a slant, all those beefy guys could probably have lifted the matchbox he was under.

Not only could they have, it was suggested in the last episode not long after Izzy was brought over to help. One of the friends suggests that they find some more guys to help lift it, and Izzy sends him off to find search and rescue instead with a red tag. Then they wrang their hands a bunch, apparently having forgotten all about the idea.

I’ve heard “use your words” a lot in real life, but you do when you work with little kids. Usually toddler age. I haven’t worked with kids for 5 years, but I’d be surprised if kids weren’t told that and to use their indoor voices a lot still.

Why do people consider Izzy more self-centered than Yang?

Is there any character on this show who is not grossly self-centered?

Wasn’t there a line somewhere about surgeons all being egotistical? Isn’t part of the whole idea of the show to watch all the head-butting that will go on when you toss a whole pile of Type-As in the same confined space?

I’m a little sick of everybody whining about how the Grey characters are whining. In another ep, the voice-over was talking about med school/internship being essentially high school with stethoscopes. The point being; they’re supposed to be whiny/arrogant/whatever - i.e. not nicey-nicey sitcom buds.

Because Yang is more likeable.

She is extremely intelligent, capable and confident when it comes to medicine, unfortunately she is pretty much socially inept. I don’t think she means to say the wrong thing but she always does. In her attempts to explain why it was important for her to tell Meredith first she just kept making it worse and sticking her foot in it. Frankly, I think this makes her character a little easier to relate to and actually like. Everytime this happens to her I can sympathize because I’ve done this and also want to take her aside and give her some suggestions on better ways to phrase things. Things don’t always go perfect for Christina, despite everything she’s got going for her.
Now let’s look at Izzy. Not very self-confident and she is always whining and second guessing herself, then when she does do something right she gloats about it, but things always eventually go her way. Okay, she does have to have some intelligence to have made it as far as she has but she doesn’t have a lot of common sense or morals. I think the stealing the heart thing was the worst thing she could ever do, short of walking up to someone and cutting their living heart out of their chest. She risked Denny’s life by cutting the LVAT wire, she risked the life of the other recipient whom I believe it was said had a family, she risked the careers of her friends. She didn’t do this for Denny, as much as she tried to convince everyone of that, she did it for herself so she wouldn’t lose him which she did anyway. Well, at least she was punished because she lost the man she barely knew that she supposedly loved, right? Well, she got 8 million dollars and was allowed to go back to work and still be a doctor. Not a lot of punishment or long term consequences there really. Then a friend is dying and everyone else is quiet and sad and pondering losing their friend and Izzy makes her speech about herself and losing the man she “loved” and choose that moment to once again attack another friend’s choice in the person he loved. Man, typing all that I just want to punch her again!
Therefore, Christina = likeable; Izzy = want to punch in the face

Because Yang is more honest and direct about her self-centeredness?

Izzie is annoying when she pretends to care about others, but doesn’t really. Or at least, that’s the way she’s been written recently. She also tries to make everything about herself. Yang doesn’t pretend. She cares or she doesn’t. She’s blunt. And she knows it isn’t all about her - so she ignores that part of the world instead of trying to draw it in.

I can deal better with that.

That was Callie last season, explaining to Finn, the vet played by Chris O’Donnell, why the whole house was dysfunctional. (And don’t vets go through just as much school, if not an internship, as surgeons?)

“Use your words.” Didn’t Derek say that to the little girl when he was looking for Meredith?

I used to like Izzie a lot. She seemed to be the only person with a clue about how to deal with non-medical folks. But lately she’s just been one big obnoxious attention grabber who can’t stand to be out of the center of attention.

And wasn’t it nice of the Chief to finally, officially take her off probation? After he sent her to the scene of a major catastrophe where it was a given that she’d be peforming medical procedures. Guess that’s the type of foresight one needs to be incharge of that hospital.

So, how is Meredith going to be brought back? I foresee another cardiac thump like the one Derek performed on Bailey’s husband when he flat-lined. Should we start a betting pool on this?

I don’t remember Derek saying it, but Callie said that to George.

Also, when Callie throws Meredith against the lockers, Izzie says it to Callie.
