Nor I, and other customers may object because they could be used for shoplifting, but I’d show some concern and do what I could.
On the contrary, in my area I have noticed that customer service is alive and well. Salespeople are nicer, managers are more accommodating, online merchants give you better service, because they’re hoping you will BUY SOMETHING and/or so glad you did. Also, several people in this thread urged me to report this to the grocery store as well as the cops. The guy was long gone from the store – I checked the whole store after it happened. Just in case, of course, I had the bagger walk me to my car. We saw no sign of him out there. So I don’t think there’s anything else the manager would have done at the time. So, I don’t know if you read the thread or not, but in part because several people urged me to do so, I reported it to the store and came back with the report. I haven’t not “moved on.” Thanks for your, uh, help, though.
And actually, I’m not saying they should have done a great song and dance. They should have made a note of it, and they should have made sure they had his description so they could be on the lookout for him. I worked in a place that gathered its fair share of crazies/people who bothered other patrons. Generally we were told about it so we could be on the lookout for them. That’s all. Also, I reported it because if I were the manager, I would want to know.
