Possible spoilers so I’ll do this.

I just watched Grosse Point Blank - haven’t watched it for a few years. Charming movie. Stopped in to say when you haven’t seen buddy from high school for ten years, show up out of the blue, spend an afternoon with him, later he finds you covered in blood with a dead body and helps you dispose of the body…that is friendship.

I love this movie soooo much. I’ve probably seen it over 20 times.

My favorite part is the fight scene in the high school.

It isn’t a spelling problem, its a typing problem…and proofreading…

I am a fan of this film. And thanks to this thread I might make an effort to watch it again somehow, maybe by buying it on DVD.

Best used of Nena’s “99 Red Balloons”… EVAR!!

use :smack:

Great movie, great soundtrack, very silly of course, but most entertaining.

I always looked at it as an aside to James bond flicks. You’ve got all those goons running around, where did they come from? GPB proposes an answer.

I caught part of it as Dangerosa was watching it… the scene where Martin is explaining how he wound up as an assassin, and trying to justify it. When challenged by his former girlfriend that he kills people for no reason, he replies:

“No, I do it for money. Wait, that came out wrong.”

I love that movie. Great soundtrack, too.

I believe the full line is:

Girlfriend: Your a psychopath!

Martin: No, I’m not a psychopath, a psychopath kills people for no reason, I kill people for money. beat. Wait, that came out wrong.

I went to see this movie originally because it was the first movie the very underrated George Armitage had made in seven years, after the very VERY underrated Miami Blues.

And because I went to a rich kids’ highschool (on full scholarship; I was NOT rich) in the Midwest, at about the same time; it was an EXTREMELY nostalgic movie for me.

And because one of my best friends from highschool was in it.

Great movie.

I was not rich either but had a family member that was (in Grossse Point) and growing up we did a lot of our holiday, picnic, and swimming get togethers there. That’s why I went to see it when it was on limited release here.

Some of the scenery was very nostalgic for me too…I’d like to see that movie again.

That sounds better. Thanks.

The scene where he fires his psychiatrist is HILARIOUS!

And the scene in the convenience store where there’s a shootout while the oblivious clerk is playing (an arcade version?) of Doom.

“They found my psych results fit a certain profile. A certain “Moral flexibility” would be the best way to describe it…”

Also you’ve got to give Martin ingenuity points for chucking a TV onto Grocer’s (Dan Aykroyd) head in the middle of a gun fight. A lesser hitman would have just grabbed a knife or something.

I saw it in the movies and really enjoyed it but John Cusack is one of my favorite actors.

I really enjoyed Dan Aykroyd’s character in this.
I requested a title change for you Dangerosa

Jim

It might be that its not necessarily my high school, but certainly my time. I graduated in 1984. And knew people who could have fallen off the face of the earth and become hit men.

I love it how he is always honest with everyone in town “So what do you do” “Professional killer” “Oh, good choice, growth business.” At the end of the movie, no one can say he lied to them - a hitman with integrity.

And Joan Cusack is wonderful as his secretary. Spreading gasoline around with a cigarette in her mouth when she is closing the office.

I love this movie, too…I love when the two FBI hit men are watching them. “Her hair looks really nice.” Also all the conversations between the two assassins.

“Me? Go G? Never!”

And all the stuff at the end: “You’re breaking my heart, Blanc, I can’t aim through the tears!”

Amazing soundtrack, too. I get the impression (after Say Anything, GPB, and High Fidelity), that John Cusack really grooves out to bands like the Clash, the Pogues, the Violent Femmes, and the Specials. As if he wasn’t cool enough already, being a fan of music like that makes him aces in my book.

Fixed it for you.
