Does anyone know the name of the owner of the real estate in which the trade center once stood?
And, does anyone know if there is a genuine request for suggestions on what to do with the site in the way of anything from simple descriptions to general blue-prints.
Needless to say, I have a great idea that I wish to submit to “somebody”. Don’t know where to go.
I am not sure of a site to use to submit ideas, but I know of one idea that is reportedly garnering a fair amount of attention: WTC 2002. Perhaps from there you could find submittal information!
The owner of the land beneath the Trade Center is the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The leaseholder and the guy with redevelopment rights (at least nominally) is Larry Silverstein.
There is a downtown commission whose name escapes me now soliciting ideas for the area.
The Port of New York and New Jersey Authority, AKA ‘The Port Authority’, or the ‘PA’
Just before the incident last September, the PA leased the six building complex to Larry Silverstein. Silverstein was the guy who built (and owned) 7 WTC, the last building to collapse. 7 WTC was not part of the original complex, and only opened in 1987.
As for your suggestions, I have no idea, nor do I care. (Please, I mean nothing personal by that remark. I read the letters column in the NY Daily News every day, and there are at least two letters daily from yahoos who just want to ‘build them higher than before’, among other ignorant spoutings. I think they should rebuild the transit complex below, and make the upstairs a 16-acre meadow.)
But you could send it to Michael Bloomberg.
