Grr!! Hulk Arrest!!!

Lou Ferrigno joins the LAPD.

Isn’t there a bit of a wall between the LAPD and the LA Sheriff’s Department?

Cool! Is he as big as he used to be?

I’ve always had a mental image of the audition for the role of Hulk, where Lou Ferrigno walked in the door and the auditioner says “all you other guys can go home now”…

This isn’t really about art or entertainment, is it? … well, I mean, OK, the LAPD are entertaining in their own way, but still.

Moving from Cafe Society to MPSIMS.

But this is about the acclaimed thespian who starred as The Incredible Hulk! The range of emotions the man could convery with a growl and a flex of his green-dyed muscles was simply astounding. Any year now, I expect the Emmy committee to hand Mr. Ferrigno a Lifetime Achievement Award for his accomplishments on the small screen.

Just about, judging from his cameo with Stan Lee in the movie.

They had a clip on CNN this morning. He’s still buff. Looks like they had a hard time fitting him with a deputy’s shirt (whaddaya mean, the chest needs to be larger than the waist?).

I can see it now. Lou makes a traffic stop.

“License and registration please”

“Fuck off pig! What did I do?”

“Please don’t make me angry sir. You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry”

OK, I haven’t seen this addressed anywhere, and realizing that he’s probably just going to go to schools in uniform and tell the kids to stay off the smack, but:

Lou’s something like 80% deaf. How does that disability not keep him off the force? Is there an exception if the officer is limited to certain types of work?

(BTW, I think the whole thing is great. Just never heard of a deaf law enforcement officer before.)

Lou is mostly PR. In addition to being deaf, he’s in his mid/late 50s; a little young to be starting. He will have arrest powers, but he won’t be patrolling the streets.

Weirddave, Lou never said that line. He only had one line, with many variations of it. Grrrrrrrr!

Hey, pal, when you’re working 90 hours a week like I am, walls are merely figments of your imagination. :stuck_out_tongue:

D_Odds, not true, in the pilot he said, "Whhhhhyyyyyyyyyyy!?! AFAIK, he and David Lee Roth are the only former big time celebs to become public servants in their later years.

I guess that he got a Famous Person Waiver for the usual hearing requirements for the job.

Say it with me.
Greatest. Buddy. Cop. Movie. EVAR!

Lou Ferrigno is ALIVE!?!

[sub]I thought he died of some steroid-related disease in the late '80s[/sub]

Reserve deputy? That would be LACSO, not LAPD.

And good for him!

He played (plays?) the neighbor on King of Queens. Actually, he plays himself, as in Lou Ferrigno as Lou Ferrigno, the neighbor.

For what it’s worth, his portrayal of the Hulk was more than just anger, he also played “calm Hulk.” And he played a cop or a security guard in that awful movie, Hulk.

Bill Bixby, however, is dead. I think he died of cancer in 1993. Despite popular misconception, Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno were two different people.

I knew Bill Bixby was dead. For some reason I thought Lou predeceased him.

Now I have to figure out who the heck really died…

Perhaps you are thinking of Lyle Alzado.

The Greaseman was a reserve deputy sheriff for the town of Falls Church, VA, for a short time. I saw him on patrol once.
