Guardianship in Prep Schools

Okay, I’m pretty sure this is appropriate for GQ, since my interest in the answer is purely academic, even though it certainly applies to me.

I attend an international prep school in British Columbia. The parents of all international students (not including me) who attend sign a paper granting guardianship to the director of the college. This leads to several questions:

-What about the Canadians, who haven’t signed over guardianship?
-What is the legal authority of the current director over those whose parents signed over guardianship to the previous director?
-What happens when a student turns eighteen?*
-Is legal adulthood attained when a student turns the AoM for BC, or for their country of residence?

Thanks ahead of time, everyone. I’ve seen you guys answer tougher ones before.
*I believe that to be the age of majority in BC. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

I don’t know anything about Canadian law. I just wanted to comment that if the school has any sense at all, the parents will have signed Guardian ship to a person with a particular title (or possibly, “the school and its directors”) and NOT a specific individual. So it wouldn’t matter who was director at the time of its signing.

Of course, I have not seen the paper the papers signed, so how would I know? Its just a guess.

Fair enough. Thanks for the addition. (We’ll consider this my bump.)
